New Delhi: Sparks flew in Court No. 1 of the Supreme Court, as Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave took on the lawyers appearing in the Judge Loya matter once again.
Arguing before a Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, Dave began by stating that judges who have “stood in the way” have suffered.
Reference was also made to former Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Justice MR Shah, who had allegedly offered a bribe of Rs. 100 crore to Judge Loya for a favourable judgment in the Sohrabuddin case.
At this point, ASG Tushar Mehta and Senior Advocate Harish Salve, appearing for the responents, took objection to Dave’s comments. However, Dave hit back sharply at the opposing counsel, stating.
Turning his attention to Salve, Dave said,
“You are last man who should be giving sermon. As a Senior member of the Bar, you should be pointing this out. You should be the leading light.”
He further added,
“Two sitting judges have given interviews to Indian Express. Sitting judges are not holy cows.”
