Journey turns tragedy : 5 killed, 5 injured as van hits stationary truck in Kelvad near Nagpur

In a ghastly road mishap on Saturday evening in Kelvad near here, a van rammed into a stationary truck parked on road, killing at least 5 people and injuring five others. The group of people in the van was approaching towards Nagpur from the neighboring state of Madhya Pradesh when the tragedy struck them on Maharashtra-MP border in Kelvad. They had reportedly gone to Jamsaoli Hanuman temple, 75 kms off here on Chhindwara road. The injured were reportedly being brought to Nagpur.

Of the five deceased, two people have been identified as Anil Tiwari and Sunil Tiwari. Sunil Tiwari is said to working with Nagpur police. The deceased also include a woman. Reports say that they were travelling back to Nagpur in a private vehicle Maruti Omni bearing number MH-40 / A 2248. When the ill-fated vehicle reached the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, it rammed into a stationary truck bearing registration number MH 40/ Y 382 from the rear. The truck was reportedly parked on the road. Sources said the driver could not make out the truck in the dark of the night, causing the deadly mishap.
