Nagpur: Dozens of passengers from city were left stranded at the Indore Airport as Jet Airways cancelled Nagpur-Chandigarh flight abruptly after reaching Indore. No reason was stated by the Jet Airways authorities for cancelling the flight midway.

Soon after announcement of cancellation of the flight, the Chandigarh-bound passengers lined up for return of ticket money. But it was not a smooth affair as an angry passenger raised his voice against the abrupt cancellation of flight that too without reason. This alert passenger apprised other co-passengers about their rights. If the flight is cancelled for any reason except due to bad weather, it is responsibility of the concerned airways to make alternate arrangements and take the passengers to their destination.

Meanwhile, the Jet Airways announced that the passengers will be charged Rs 15,000-20,000 for the next day’s flight from Indore to Chandigarh. Hearing the announcement, the affected passengers staged demonstration and raised slogans against arbitrary move by the Jet Airways. Sensing the angry mood of the passengers, the airways accommodated the them at a 3-star hotel in Indore at its expenses. Lunch, dinner and the next days’ breakfast was served to the passengers by Jet Airways. A flight to Chandigarh was arranged the next day for the passengers on their old tickets.

Over 50 passengers thanked the alert passenger named Purshottam Harwani, an entrepreneur from Amravati, for his timely intervention.
