Jawan’s eardrums damaged as SRPF officer slaps him hard for missing target at firing range in Nagpur

Nagpur: Enraged over missing the target at the firing range, an official of SRPF Group 4 in Nagpur slapped a trainee jawan hard. Due to the hitting, both the eardrums of the jawan got damaged. Following the confirmation in the medical test, the Hingna police booked the official by registering an assault case.

According to reports, the victim trainee jawan, Poonam Shalikram Khanve (27), is a resident of village MendKi, Katol Tehsil, Nagpur District. He is Security Guard in Maharashtra State Security Corporation in Mumbai. At present, Poonam was deployed as an Armed Security Guard at Majri ChecK Post in Chandrapur district. Poonam was ordered to be present at SRPF firing range at Hingna from October 17 to 22 for training.

Subsequently, he reached the training camp on October 16. Around 50 jawans from across the state had come for training. On October 22 from 8 am, the firing training was held at SRPF’s Junapani Firing Range. SRPF Group 4 PSI Rupesh LoKhande was the instructor while an officer named Zade was the trainer.

However, as Poonam missed the target, an enraged Zade slapped him hard on his ears in front of all the trainees. After the training was over, Poonam reached his working place. In the meantime, he was unable to hear properly and was also suffering much pain in both his ears. He immediately informed his senior officials.

Subsequently, medical treatment of his ears was conducted by specialists at Warora, Chandrapur and Nagpur. The medical tests revealed damage to ear drums of Poonam. Following revelation, Poonam filed a complaint against PSI Rupesh Zade at Hingna Police Station, the reports said.
