Nagpur: Jaripatka police have busted a gang of e-rickshaw battery burglars and arrested two young men and detained two juvenile boys.
A team of Jaripatka police was on trail of goons lifting e-rickshaws and removing their batteries. An e-rickshaw of Kamalesh Suresh Fulzele, resident of Angulmal, Nara Road, was stolen from his house in the night of January 29, 2019. The stolen e-rickshaw (TC-49/MH-179) worth Rs 50,000 was later found abandoned in the area. Similarly, an e-rickshaw stolen from Chaitanya Nagari, Nara Road was found abandoned. Batteries of both the e-rickshaws were removed by the burglars.
During the investigation, cops received information that two accused named Rehan Sheikh alias Kabir Nasim Sheikh (25) of Kapil Nagar and Irshad Sheikh Ashfaq Sheikh (19) of Majri Chistiya Square and two juvenile delinquents were involved in stealing e-rickshaws and removing their batteries for sale. They had stolen the vehicles from various areas. Acting on the inputs, cops arrested the accused duo and detained the two juveniles. Cops have recovered stolen batteries and other material collectively worth Rs 2.50 lakh from possession of the arrested accused.
