Jaai star attraction of Maharajbagh suffering from kidney infection

Nagpur: The star attraction of Maharajbagh, the 8-year old tigress Jaai is unwell since few days. Jai is reported to be suffering problem kidney problem. A few days back a snake was spotted near her cage and so it is suspected that the snake must have bitten her because of which she must have developed infection in her kidney.

Jaai is being administered saline 4 to 5 times in a day. Jaai is in Maharajbag zoo since 2008. Animals here are in danger here because of the big nullah which is close to the Maharajbag. A few years back rain water had entered the cages of the animals. Though a compound wall has been constructed close yet there is danger to the animals here.

Informing about Jaai’s health, In-charge Officer Dr Sunil Bawaskar said, her condition still remains critical. It has not yet been confirmed whether the snake bit Jaai. All doctors are making efforts for her recovery. The possibility of Jaai being cured depends on the number of days of life extended which would be sign of her recovery. Presently, Jaai is moving about. Bawaskar further said that every eight days a snake is spotted here.
