Irfan ‘tricks in Rabbani victory

irfanNagpur News : Irfan Malik’s flamboyant hat-trick sunk CPS Katol Road 3-0 against a strong MM Rabbani High School outfit during Monday’s fixtures of Jawaharlal Darda Memorial Inter-school Football Tournament at Police Line Ground Takli.

The Rabbani boys carried their form from a 4-0 victory against Anjuman English HS in their previous outing. Irfan opened the scoring in the 15th minute and followed it up with another strike within the next three minutes. He added one more in the second half to complete a delightful hat-trick which saw the Rabbani boys seal yet another emphatic victory. After this match, Irfan now has two consecutive hat-tricks to his name and is certainly amongst the frontrunners for the best player in this year’s competition.

A six-goal thriller resulted in a 3-3 draw between St Xavier’s Hingna and Nagpur Residential HG. Saurabh Trivedi put St Xavier’s ahead with a 13th minute strike. But two successive goals for Nagpur Residential through Arshad Ghanchi and Dushyant Tekan saw them take the lead within the next five minutes. This was followed by another equaliser as Ishan Anekar, who scored in his team’s previous match also, netted the ball for St Xavier’s.

Dushyant Tekam completed his brace minutes before the first half concluded. K Shrihari scored the final goal of the day in the dying stages of the game to salvage a point for his team as the game ended in a draw.

Earlier in the day, Anjuman High School also recorded a comfortable 3-1 win against the boys from Dinanath High School. Anjuman scored thrice in the first half through Mohsin Khan, Uzaif and Mohd Ikram.

Dinanath pulled one goal back in the second period with Aditya Lahabar’s strike but disciplined defending from the Anjuman boys ensured a safe victory for them in the end. Guru Govind HS, St John’s HS and Bhavan’s Civil Lines were awarded wins on the basis of walkovers in their respective matches. In the NDFA Women’s League’s only match on Monday, Rahul were awarded three points on the basis of a walkover against CPS.
