Inter-State Gang Busted: 7 BSNL Cable Theft Cases Solved, ₹14.22 Lakh Property Seized in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, a team of the Pratapnagar Police Station has busted an inter-state gang involved in the theft of BSNL underground cable components across Nagpur city, solving seven registered offences and seizing stolen property worth ₹14.22 lakh.

Theft Near Swavalambi Nagar Park Leads to Arrest
The case came to light after Mayank Sevakram Swami (38), Supervisor with BSNL Nagpur, lodged a complaint stating that between 8.15 am and 9.30 am on February 19, accused persons were caught stealing ‘Krone’ modules (telecom distribution components) belonging to BSNL from Pillar Nos. 12 and 16 near Aaji Aajoba Park in Swavalambi Nagar under the jurisdiction of Pratapnagar police.

Police apprehended two accused —
Duryodhan Parsaram Kore (32) Tekeshwar Ghanshyam Kharkate (30)Both are originally residents of Kalpatri village, Post Mohadi, Goregaon taluka in Gondia district, currently residing in the Tehsil area of Nagpur.

From their possession, police recovered 207 Krone modules valued at ₹31,050 and a motorcycle (MH-35 AP 1769) worth ₹25,000 used in the commission of the crime.

Five Accused Held, Inter-State Links Unearthed
During the course of investigation, based on technical analysis and confidential inputs, police arrested three more accused:

Abhijeet Purushottam Mendhe (27), resident of Kalpatri village, Gondia Aniket alias Rocky Anand Mishra (25), resident of Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh Atif Ali Mustaqeen Ali (25), resident of Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh

The probe revealed that the accused were part of an inter-state gang targeting BSNL infrastructure in various parts of Nagpur.

Seven Cable Theft Cases Cracked Across Nagpur

Further investigation led to the detection of seven cable theft cases registered at multiple police stations including Sadar, Lakadganj, Tehsil, Bajaj Nagar and others within Nagpur city limits.

In total, stolen property worth ₹14,22,400 has been seized from the accused.

Senior Officers Supervised Operation

The operation was carried out under the directives of senior Nagpur city police officials and under the supervision of DCP Zone-1 Rushikesh Reddy Singa Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Gurav, and Senior Police Inspector Pankaj Bondse of Pratapnagar Police Station.

A dedicated team comprising API Amol Tambe, PSI Satish Bhole, and other police personnel executed the crackdown.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the gang has links to similar offences outside Nagpur district.
