
Nagpur: A violent late-night rampage rocked Nagpur’s Mahal area after a group of youths armed with sharp weapons went on a vandalism spree, allegedly triggered by anger over an Instagram friendship linked to a past relationship.
The incident occurred around 11 pm in the Gadikhana and Joharipura localities, where the group created panic by shouting threats and damaging more than half a dozen parked two-wheelers. According to police, the main accused was enraged after his ex-girlfriend befriended another युवक on Instagram, leading to an ongoing dispute between the two sides over the past few days.
Seeking revenge, the accused allegedly arrived at the spot with nearly 12 associates, carrying swords and other sharp weapons. The group allegedly smashed vehicles parked along the roadside, spreading fear among local residents.
Alert locals gathered during the chaos, managed to overpower a few members of the group, and handed them over to the police after confronting them.
Ganeshpeth police have initiated a preliminary investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madne confirmed that around 12 youths were involved in the incident, with a majority believed to be minors. So far, three accused have been detained, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining suspects.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and further legal action is in progress.
