New Delhi: Indrani Mukerjea, former CEO of INX media and key accused in Sheena Bora murder case has filed a bail application before the special CBI court in Mumbai, seeking bail.

Mukerjea claimed that she fears threat to her life. She has reportedly cited two incidents when she was taken to hospital following a suspected drug overdose.

On April 6, Mukerjea was rushed to JJ Hospital from Byculla court in a semi-conscious state, complaining of uneasiness and difficulty in breathing. Later, when Mukerjea was produced before the court, she claimed that there might have been an attempt to poison her in jail.

“I fear for my life, I have not given my statement to IG Prisons. I confirm that I have not spoken to anyone,” Mukerjea told the court.

Mukerjea has been lodged in Mumbai’s Byculla jail for killing her daughter, Sheena Bora. 24-year-old Sheena was abducted and killed on April 24, 2012, allegedly over a financial dispute, and her body was disposed of in a forest in adjoining Raigad district.

Indrani and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna were arrested in August 2015 along with her former driver Shyamvar Rai, while Indrani’s present husband Peter Mukerjea was nabbed in November the same year.
