New Delhi/Nagpur: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said the negotiation with France for 36 Rafale jets is in advanced stage but added it can’t be said that the negotiation is totally cleared until India signs it.

“While the deal is in quite advanced stage and we intent to close it quite soon , till then I can’t say that negotiation is totally cleared until we sign the deal or at least the deal is forwarded to the Cabinet for approval,” Parrikar said this on the sidelines of the Naval Commanders Conference here.

He also said the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) level hotline with China will be a reality soon.

Speaking to media in the national capital, Parrikar said there will be frequent interactions with China for better border management.

Commenting on his recent visit to China, he said that the discussions were held in very positive atmosphere.

In a bid to improve border management and avoid frequent stand-off between the two armies, India and China are mulling setting up a hotline between the military headquarters of both countries.

The decision in this regard was taken during Parrikar’s recent visit to China.
