Nagpur: As a result of increased price of Plaster of Paris under GST, celebration of an Eco-friendly ‘Ganeshotsav’ will be an affordable affair.
After implementation of 12% GST on PoP and 28% on paints and varnishes, the cost of fancy, Plaster of Paris idols are foreseen to raise manifolds. Considering the increased cost, people will now be slanting towards purchase of clay idols.
Predicting the nature of the market, the idol makers in the city are also focusing more on creating clay idols. The Value Added Tax on chemicals and PoP has increased, whereas, the cost of locally manufactured goods has decreased which, as a result, is expected to encourage a ‘Greener Ganeshotsav’.
