
Nagpur | May 4, 2026 A tragic incident was reported early Monday morning at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Nagpur campus, where a second-year engineering student allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the top of a hostel building.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 4:30 AM inside the institute premises. The student, said to be enrolled in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with a specialized track, was residing in the campus hostel at the time.

Sources indicate that the student allegedly jumped from the hostel building, leading to fatal injuries. Fellow students and hostel authorities reportedly rushed to the spot after the incident came to light, and emergency services were alerted immediately. However, the student was declared dead shortly after.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially disclosed, pending notification of family members.
Local police have reached the campus and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are currently examining:
