Coming out of his hideout when on the run, just to buy a different SIM card got Armaan Kohli arrested. On the run for almost a week, controversial actor Arman Kohli was arrested by Mumbai Police from Lonavla on Tuesday. He was found there at his friend’s farmhouse.
Kohli was brought to Mumbai on Tuesday evening from Lonavla by Mumbai Police. He will be produced in court for police custody on Wednesday.Kohli is accused of assaulting his girlfriend Neeru Randhawa at their residence in Santacruz.The arrest came on a complaint filed on June 4 at Santacruz police station by Kohli’s girlfriend, a 35-year-old model.
Based on her statement, Kohli was booked under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code).
The actor was absconding since then.
What happened?
According to the complainant, Randhawa was in a relationship with 46-year-old Kohli for past three years and they used to stay together in a flat in suburban Santacruz.The duo had an argument over financial issues at their residence on June 3 and during the altercation, he allegedly pushed the woman and she fell from the stairs, according to the complaint.The accused then pulled her hair and banged her head on the floor, the woman alleged.
She added that she suffered head and knee injuries in the incident and was admitted to a hospital by her driver.Three teams were made by the police to nab Kohli but he kept changing his position.
How Kholi was caught?
Arman Kohli left Mumbai and he was doing rounds several cities in Maharashtra like Solapur, Pune, and Lonavla. At all the places, he was using different sim cards to avoid the cops.
Kohli reached Lonavla to stay at his friend’s farmhouse. Here too, he wanted a different sim card to communicate with his family and advocate.He reached a shop to buy the sim, where one alert citizen identified Kohli. He immediately informed the police as he was aware that Kohli was on the run.Within two hours, a team from Santacruz police station reached Lonavla and arrested him. Coming out from his hideout to buy sim cost Kohli, his arrest.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.Kohli has appeared in several films like ‘Jaani Dushman’ and made his last big screen appearance in ‘LOC: Kargil’ in 2003.
He gained popularity after featuring on Salman Khan’s reality TV show Bigg Boss Season 7 in 2013.
