House-break at New Subedar layout; Thieves decamp with booty worth Rs 2 lakh

Unidentified thieves let loose into a locked house in New Subedar layout and swept away cash and gold worth Rs 2 lakh. The inmates had gone to attend the marriage ceremony when the miscreants broke open the lock and made their way to booty.

Rs 92,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.08 lakh were reportedly stolen in the incident which took place between 9 am and 4.30 pm on Tuesday.

The complainant Sevanand Bhanudas Ghadge (52), a resident of Thawre Colony, New Subedar layout had gone to attend a marriage ceremony at Sawargaon, Mouda on Tuesday. He discovered the theft when he returned home in the evening.

He informed Hudkeshwar police about theft and lodged a complaint against unidentified thieves. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 454 and 380 of the IPC and started the investigations.
