Hyderbad: After making elaborate security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of GES-2017, Telangana police ended up in an embarrassing situation when local TV channels aired the live CCTV footage visuals from Falaknuma Palace Hotel when Prime Minister Modi was hosting an official dinner for Advisor to US President Ivanka Trump and delegates of GES on Tuesday+ (November 28).

This major breach of security came to light when national media channels began airing the live feed of some Telugu news channels at around 9.42pm where Prime Minister Modi, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and governor of two Telugu states, ESL Narasimhan, were on a sofa talking to one another.

The event was strictly out of bounds for media and when TV channels started airing the live CCTV feed from inside the hotel, officials of the PMO office took a note of it and alerted Special Protection Group (SPG). The top officials of SPG asked Telangana police brass to look into the matter and stop the live broadcasting.

The public relations officers, personal secretaries and senior cops immediately called the TV channels and stopped the live broadcast of CCTV feed.

An enquiry into the incident revealed that the live broadcast was done from command and control centre at the city police commissioner’s office.

Some senior police officers allowed reporters of a couple of TV channels to enter the command control centre when the official dinner was on.
