Nagpur: A young married woman, who was suffering from HIV and was divorced, committed suicide by plunging into a public well in Prajapati Nagar of MIDC area here on Wednesday morning.
The deceased 32-year old woman (name withheld), resident of Prajapati Nagar, had got married recently. However, soon after marriage, it came to light that the woman was afflicted by the deadly HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus that causes highly infective AIDS disease). Following the diagnosis, her husband filed a divorce petition in a court. The court accepted the petition and granted divorce to the couple. Undergoing the HIV trauma and divorce, the woman decided to end her agony. She plunged into a public well situated in Prajapati Nagar, coming under MIDC Police Station jurisdiction, around 7 in the morning of Wednesday and ended her life.
ASI Pratap, based on the information provided by her husband, has registered a case of accidental death and probing the matter further.
