Nagpur: In a significant operation, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of the City Police successfully raided a high-profile sex racket in the Sadar area of Nagpur, rescuing two young women who had been forced into the trade by pimps. The raid took place in a flat at Aakar Builders’ Colony, Chitnavis Layout, Nelson Square, under the jurisdiction of the Sadar Police Station.
Two individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the operation. The suspects have been identified as Aparna Sachin Naik, 40, and Firoz Khan Abdullah Khan, 52, both residents of Sunderbag, Gaddigodam. The duo had also involved a juvenile in running the prostitution ring.
According to the police, Aparna Naik and Firoz Khan lured many young women with false promises of employment. Once the women were ensnared, they were coerced into prostitution to generate money for the ringleaders.
The breakthrough came when the Crime Branch received a tip-off from informers. Acting on this information, officers sent a decoy customer to Flat No. 18 at Aakar Builders’ Colony to verify the claims. On the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the SSB team raided the premises after receiving confirmation from the decoy.
During the raid, the police seized three cellphones, cash, and other items amounting to a total value of Rs 41,230. Aparna Naik and Firoz Khan were taken into custody, and a case has been registered under Sections 143(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, along with Sections 4, 5, and 7 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
The operation was led by Police Inspector Kavita Isarkar and her team, under the supervision of senior Crime Branch officers.
