Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) now-a-days is witnessing hectic activities. Elections for new team of office-bearers are to be held within one and half month. This year the election is likely to see battle of ballots, unlike unanimous or unopposed, if the tug of war situation prevailing in the present Executive is any indication. On the other hand, the present President, it appears, is turning all tables to retain the post and ultimately score a hat-trick.
NVCC comprises of 1100 members out of which many are just members who rarely show their presence in any activity. However, proxy voting, till now the potent weapon in the hands of a few to rule NVCC, has been banned this year. Even otherwise, only 5-7 percent members are active and running the affairs of this organization, according to sources. Interestingly, many members are remitting annual membership charges regularly despite being life members and many others are paying annual charges just to keep life membership intact. Therefore, who are the authorized members is subject of scan in accordance with NVCC laws, said the sources further.
According to sources, the present team of office-bearers enjoys unflinching support of an influential community. However, if the differences within ruling office-bearers and any plausible understanding among rivals eludes, this year’s election may go to ballots. In this case, 60-65 percent voting is expected and bagger of 350-400 votes could emerge winner.
Apart from the facts and figures, the present days are witnessing hectic activities. Meetings are being held by various groups, strategies are being drawn, differences are being sorted out with sole goal. Goal to score victory in the all important NVCC election.
