Nagpur: Close on the heels of hanging day of Mumbai serial blast guilty Yakub Memon’s execution scheduled on July 30, a dreaded group of 10-15 terrorists stormed Gurdaspur in Punjab early Monday morning. As terrorists attacked a passenger bus and barged into a police station, killing atleast 5 people, the security situation in Nagpur is likely to be taken into account. Following the alert sounded in Gurdaspur in the aftermath of terrorist attack, Nagpur too cannot be overlooked from the radar, given Yakub is scheduled to be executed in hanging yard of Nagpur jail.
Nagpur police Commissioner SP Yadav however put aside any such connection. He told Nagpur Today, “The encounter in Gurdaspur is still going on and we cannot immediately say this incident has anything to do with Yakub’s hanging. Unless anything conclusive comes in it, nothing can be commented,” The police commissioner however stated that security has been already beefed up for other reasons.
Meanwhile, as the reports poured in, a lot of media people have started seeing this attack in the light of Yakub Memon’s hanging. However, nothing could be firmly established till the time of going to the post. Whatever be the modus operandi of the terrorists may be, the nature of terrorist attack has given rise to this speculation growing wide.

Reports from Gurdaspur stated that atleast one of the terrorists holed up in the police stations has been gunned down as the army has been called in. Further update is awaited.
