Nagpur: Grand welcome awaits Nagpur West BJP MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh who has been bestowed with the status of Minister of State being Whip of the ruling party BJP in the State. The City BJP President Sudhakar Kohale said that the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the Minister of State status to Sudhakar Deshmukh at a meeting of party legislators held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended MLA Krishna Khopde, MLC Anil Sole and other legislators. Chief Whips Raj Purohit (BJP) and Neelam Gorhe (Shiv Sena) also have got the status of Cabinet Ministers.

The Spokesman of City Unit of BJP Chandan Goswami said Sudhakar Deshmukh is arriving in city by a flight at 5 pm on Thursday. On his first visit to city after getting Minister of State status, the party office-bearers, workers and others would accord him a grand welcome, Goswami said.

Notably, Maharashtra Government has amended Legislature Members (Removal of Disqualification) Act to give facilities like car, office, and bungalow to Whips of the ruling parties — BJP and Shiv Sena. Sudhakar Deshmukh has received the respective status vide this amendment being a Whip of the ruling party.
