Nagpur:
Sticking to its assurance of paying the pending dues of Selu farmers the State Government has got its acts together. Making a statement in the ongoing State Budget Session being held in Mumbai, the Cooperation Minister Chandrakantdada Patil said that the property of defaulting owner of Shrikrushna Ginning and Pressing Mill Sunil Talatule would be auctioned on April 11 next. The State Government is likely to fetch around Rs 8 crore from proceedings of the auction. The amount is sufficient to pay the pending dues of Rs 6 crore of the farmers.

“The State Government is conscious of farmers’ problems and is committed to providing justice to the farmers,” asserted the minister.

Notably, a large number of farmers of Selu Tehsil of Wardha District had staged a high-voltage agitation in Nagpur and had even threatened self-immolation in front of RSS Headquarters alleging that Talatule is a functionary of the organisation. Five of the farmers had resorted to ‘fast unto death’ protest at Sanvidhan Square that lasted for 13 days and was called off atter the government intervened and assured to look into the demand.
