Governor to attend the Diamond Jubilee ‘Get Together’ of Indo-Arab Society

The Governor of Maharashtra Ch Vidyasagar Rao will attend as Chief Guest a ‘Get Together’ function organized by the Indo-Arab Society on the occasion of 60th anniversary of the Society at Islam Gymkhana, Netaji Subhash Road, Marine Drive, Mumbai at 6.00 PM on Friday, 17 April 2015.  Consuls and Vice Consuls of Arabic countries, Adv Majeed Memon, Member of Parliament and other distinguished invitees are expected to attend the Get Together.

The Indo Arab Society was inaugurated by India’s first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru in the year 1954. The Society has been working for the promotion of Indo – Arab friendhip. Egyptian President Nasser, King Saud Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, King Hussain of Jordan, Prime Minister of Lebanon Rashid Karame, Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat and others have attended the receptions hosted by the Society.

Renowned political leader and author Smt Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya, Nawab of Palanpur Iqbal Mohammed Khan, prominent Congress leader and ex-Governor of Tamil Nadu K K Shah, Scholar Dr Rafiq Zakaria, Former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Barrister Ramrao Adik, former Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha and currently Union Minister Dr Mrs Najma Heptulla and others have served as President of Indo Arab Society.
