Governor, CM flag off ‘Run for Unity’ on Sardar Patel Jayanti

The Governor of Maharashtra CH. Vidyasagar Rao accompanied by State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Mumbai on Wednesday (31st Oct).

Hundreds of youths, school and college students, cadets of NCC and citizens participated in the ‘Run for Unity’.

The Run started from NCPA, Nariman Point and culminated at Grant Medical College Gymkhana ground.

Earlier, the Governror gave the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ pledge to the assembled gathering. “I dedicate myself to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation”, and “resolve to make my own contribution to ensure internal security of my country,” reads the pledge.

The birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, Independent India’s first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, is celebreated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’.

Minister for Higher and Technical Education Vinod Tawde, Minister of Industry Subhash Desai, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Mahadev Jankar, MLA Rajpurohit and officials were present.
