Nagpur News: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), in view of increasing incidents of assaults on doctors by patients and their relatives, has started a ‘Pass System’ to regulate the flow of visitors other than the patients. The GMCH Administration’s move comes after the resident doctors demanded immediate steps to protect them from the assaults. The ‘Pass System’ will limit the number of people accompanying each patient and also help maintain cleanliness in the premises. The inauguration of the Pass System was done at the hands of GMCH Dean Dr Rajaram Powar.

According to the system, one relative with normal patient and two relatives with serious patient will be allowed. The visiting hours for relatives are from 4 pm to 7 pm. Entry Gate Number 1 will be open for the visitors or relatives.

MARD had put several demands regarding security including increase in number of guards, appointment of female guards and pass system for the patients and their relatives. Accordingly, the Administration introduced the pass system and soon 12 new guards from MESCO will be manning various important places of hospital. There would also be round-the-clock presence of female guards, too.
