Global Shaper’s Nagpur hub to conduct Central India’s first ever Climate Reality Conference

Nagpur: Global Shapers Community, a World Economic Forum initiative, is an international organization with presence in 386 cities across 171 countries. Nagpur Hub is a part of this global network of change makers committed to building a clean and equal world. Nagpur hub is a youth run organization that is currently engaged in 7 social impact projects, ranging from blood donation & menstrual hygiene to social entrepreneurship & urban mobility. The hub is all set to launch a unique initiative that aims at creating awareness about climate change and build a 100% climate literate Nagpur city. In this endeavor, for first time in Central India, Climate Reality Presentation & Conference is being organised.

Nagpur hub is shaped by the drive and the dedication of its members who are ready to contribute towards community development. In the words of Mr. Varun Agrawal, Vice-Curator of Nagpur hub, “Being a shaper gets you in the company of an extraordinary group of people who are a tremendous source of ideas, inspiration and innovation, together we believe we can change the world. It’s all about passion, persistence and the belief in something bigger than oneself.”

The Climate Reality Presentation & Conference is a unique initiative in the area of Climate awareness and education, jointly organized by Global Shapers Community Nagpur Hub and The Climate Reality Project India. This is an extensive workshop to enable individuals from all age groups build skills and strategies about the science of and solutions to climate change which would only benefit the future endeavors they undertake. For this training, we would be joined by Mr. Aditya Pundir, Country Manager at Climate Reality Project India and other distinguished guests from public policy, education & social impact space.

The trainings would be conducted as 4 individual tracks over the period of 3 days – March 10th, 11th & 12th – with each track focusing a specific area of impact and/or opportunity. The tracks are as follows:

10th March NEERI Auditorium:
•Education 2.0 (11:00-2:00 p.m.) – Training educators on best methods to bestow the young generation with the right knowledge and the tools to fight the climate crisis.
•Social Innovation(4:00-7:00 p.m.)- NGOs leaders and activists understand the new social & environmental issues that will emerge such as vector borne diseases, extreme weather, food deprivation etc.

11th March, VIA Hall:
•Eco-Governance(4:00-7:00 p.m.) – Training MSMEs, think tanks and policy makers on building consensus for a strong local policy on environment preservation and enacting regulations, taxation policies and governance strategies to further support the fight against climate change.

12th March, VIA Hall:
•Entrepreneurship(11:00-2:00 p.m.)- New opportunities for entrepreneurs and existing businesses in innovating and working with new technologies in areas of sustainability, clean energy, recycling etc.

The Climate Reality Presentation is set to target audience from various backgrounds which will help bring in immense positive change to our community. The team is led by Mr. Paras Parekh, Curator of Nagpur hub who says, “Being at the helm of an organization dedicated to changing the world for the better and encouraging the cultivation of brilliance in ideas and actions alike is truly an honor for me, and the ethos of the community will reflects in ourvarious social ventures.”
