Nagpur: In a well-planned operation, Gittikhadan police have nabbed a vehicle lifter, who was also involved in looting and burglaries. Cops have seized several two-wheelers from his possession. Similarly, two robbers were arrested two robbers and burglars who were on house-breaking and looting spree in different areas of the city. A huge quantity of gold-silver ornaments and other valuables have been recovered from the arrested duo.
In the first success, the vehicle lifter Venkati Maruti Dandekar (25), a native of Chandrapur was arrested after hot trail. On 25.11.2015, the accused had stolen a Hero Honda CD Don motorcycle (MH-31/DL 9557) and a mobile phone from Gittikhadan Police Station jurisdiction. Subsequently, a team of policemen, led by API J K Bobde was set up to crack the crime. As a first step to nab the offenders, cops scanned the location of the mobile phone. The location of the stolen mobile was traced to Warora in Chandrapur District. The team immediately left for the place and detained the possessor of the phone. The accused was later identified as Venkati Maruti Dandekar. A sustained questioning of the accused forced Venkati to spill the beans and confess his role in lifting of more and more two-wheelers from different areas. Other vehicles seized from the accused include an Activa (MH-31/CJ 1902), a Hero Honda CD Don (MH-31/BS 1962), a Hero Honda Passion (MH-31/AV 2990).
Similarly, the accused Venkati also named two of his other accomplices who were involved in robberies, looting, house-breakings and other crimes. The two accused have been identified as Deepak Bhaurao Ingle of Khalashi Line and Kapil Ashok Gaure (25) of Gautam Nagar, Gittikhadan. During patrolling duty, the team of Gittikhadan police noticed an autorickshaw speeding away after spotting the police. Cops gave a chase and found the auto abandoned at a dark place. But a search found that the two occupants of auto fleeing but one of them was nabbed by the chasing cops. He was brought to the police station was subjected to intense questioning. The accused, Deepak Bhaurao Ingle confessed his role in a series of looting, house-breakings and other such crimes. Deepak also named his accomplice as Kapil Gaure who too was later apprehended.
The team of Gittikhadan police later recovered stolen gold-silver ornaments and other valuables including laptops, hand watches etc.
