Nagpur: Parents send their dear daughters for education far away, trusting the educational institutions and considering the teachers as respectable. However, a disturbing case of molestation has come to light in Nagpur’s Vasantrao Naik Physical Education College, according to reports.

According to the reports, the school is run by the Pandav family, who have political interests, and attracts students from nearby areas. A girl student from Delhi also came to study here, but she was subjected to molestation with nasty acts by a teacher who taught at the college. The teacher would touch her cheeks, taunt her, slap her, and pull her strip from behind. The teacher, who is also the head of the department, has control over giving more or less marks to the students. Usually, girl students remain silent due to the fear of getting less marks, which creates a fear of retaliation among the students, the reports said.

Despite reporting the incidents to the Principal and other female teachers, the girl was told to keep quiet. When she approached the police, she faced pressure from the police personnel instead of taking action against the teacher. The girl fears for her safety and the safety of other female students at the school. She says that the police and the college management are protecting the molesters, which can lead to further atrocities.

The case highlights the vulnerability of students, especially female students, in educational institutions. It also highlights the complicity of the authorities in such cases, who choose to remain silent instead of taking action against the culprits. The authorities must take this case seriously and ensure that justice is served. They must also take measures to create a safe environment for all students, especially female students.

“This kind of mentality only gives rise to big atrocities. In the whole matter the police and the college management kept silent and they did not even feel embarrassed. If I do not get justice then many innocent girl students like me studying here are in constant danger,” says the girl from the National Capital.

The case in Nagpur’s Vasantrao Naik Physical Education School is not an isolated incident. There have been numerous cases of sexual harassment and assault in educational institutions across India. Many of these cases go unreported due to fear of retaliation or stigma. It is essential for the authorities to take a proactive approach to prevent such incidents and to provide support to the victims.

Educational institutions must create a safe environment for all students and implement strict measures to prevent sexual harassment and assault. It is also crucial for the authorities to take swift and appropriate action against the culprits to send a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated. Only then can we ensure a safe and secure environment for students to learn and grow.
