Gadkari announces Rs 50 lakh for Virangula, a Recreational Centre in East Nagpur

Nagpur: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday announced an assistance of Rs 50 lakh from the MP Fund for the development of Virangula, a Recreational Center in East Nagpur, to bring happiness to the lives of senior citizens and enable them to live their life happily. The Centre was set up by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) at Ward No. 26in Darshan Colony on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of independence. Gadkari was speaking after inaugurating this centreto mark Senior Citizens Day.

On this occasion, MLC Praveen Datke, MLAs Tekchand Savarkar, Vikas Kumbhare along with former Minister and President of Senior Citizens Association Datta Meghe, NMC Chief Engineer Leena Upadhyay, Executive Engineer Kamlesh Chauhan, FESCON President Vasantrao Kalambe, former Corporators Narendra (Balya) Borkar, Samita Chakole, Jitendra (Bunty) Kukde, Adv. Dharmapal Meshram, Manisha Kothe, J.P. Sharma Ram Ambulkar, Pramod Pendke, Raju Gotmare were present.

Gadkari speaking further said, the Rs. 50 lakh shall be utilised to provide leisure facilities for senior citizens. Along with this, yoga training as well as facilities for holding devotional programme, drama and cinema pre-entertainment facilities will also be made available at Recreational Centre. He also announced that a special senior citizen festival will be organised for senior citizens under aegis of Khasdar Mahotsav. Apart from this, special bus services, health checkup camps and other services will be made available for them.

Gadkari appealed to the senior citizens to focus on keeping their bodies healthy and advised them to regularly practice yoga asanas, especially pranayam. On this occasion, MLA Krishna Khopde who presided at the programme said that Recreational Centre was set up to make lie of senior citizens happy.

Well furnished building of Virangula Centre
Virangula Center has been constructed on behalf of Nagpur Municipal Corporation during 2022-23. Rs 1.4 crore have been spent for the Virangula Centre, and all the facilities required by the senior citizens have been provided in the centre. Chief Engineer Leena Upadhyay informed that two changing rooms, a grand hall, solar panels, fine furniture, entertainment facilities, toilets have been built in this building for the convenience of senior citizens.
