The high-profile Secretary of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Harish Dubey has found himself in the dock over his “flawed” date of birth.

Congress Corporator Sandeep Sahare has, in a letter addressed to the Municipal Commissioner, pointed out that Harish Navalkishore Dubey in his graduation certificate mentioned his date of birth as November 11, 1961. However, the birth certificate issued by Corporation’s Birth and Death Department, Dubey’s date of birth has been mentioned as November 11, 1960. It simply means there is a difference of 12 months in the two birth dates of NMC’s Secretary. Even if it is assumed that Harish Dubey was born on November 11, 1961, the record shows that his younger brother was born on September 21, 1962. Births of two siblings within 10 months is baffling, Sahare stated.

Sahare further pointed out that a complaint in this regard was lodged by Mushtaq Ahmed with the Chief Minister’s Office at Hyderabad House, Nagpur, on 15.9.2016. Taking cognisance of the complaint, the OSD in Asha Pathan had sent a letter to the then Municipal Commissioner on 27.9.2016 asking him to look into the matter. It was expected that a departmental enquiry initiated against on the issue but even after lapse of 11 months nothing has been done, Sahare lamented. He demanded that NMC should examine Dubey’s younger brother’s records in Birth and Death Department, hospital record and school certificate.

Earlier also, Dubey was cornered by the Congress Corporator Sandeep Sahare when he was accused of furnishing false certificate relating to his education qualification. He was accused of first getting promoted to Superintendent (Library) and then Secretary of NMC on the basis of ‘dubious’ educational certificates.
