Five MSEDCL staffers abused, attacked by defaulter consumer in Shantinagar

Nagpur: Five employees of MSEDCL were abused and manhandled by a defaulter consumer when they had gone to recover the pending power dues in Mahesh Nagar under Shantinagar police area on Sunday. The employees, including a woman staffer, were also threatened with dire consequences by the accused consumer.

According to police, the complainant, Sachin Jivanrao Mahalle (39), resident of Plot No. 21, Diwan Layout, Manewada, along with four other MSEDCL employees namely Mahendra Tidke, Amol Shende, Neelam Ramteke and Kunal Bhilkar, had gone to house of Sayyed Sajjad Ali Muzaffar Ali at Hussain Mansion Apartment, Kashyap Colony, Mahesh Nagar, for recovery of pending power dues around 12.30 pm on Sunday. But since Sayyed was not at home, the MSEDCL employees talked with him on the phone and later disconnected the power supply of his house.

After sometime, Sayyed sent a man with Rs 50,000 for the power bill and asked the MSEDCL staffers to restore his power supply. Accordingly, the MSEDCL employees restored the power supply and were leaving the place. During the same time, a man named Jishan Musani, aged 45, resident of the same apartment, started abusing the employees in filthy language and manhandled them. The accused also threatened the MSEDCL employees of dire consequences.

Shantinagar PSI Arun Bakal, based on the complaint of Mahalle, booked the accused Jishan Musani under Sections 353, 294, 506 of the IPC and probing the matter further. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
