Fire breaks out at stationery shop in Nagpur’s Itwari, loss pegged at Rs 5 lakh

Nagpur: A fire broke out at a stationery shop in Itwari locality of Nagpur in the early hours of Wednesday, May 1, causing loss of Rs 5 lakh. Goods including school stationery, notebooks, plastic bottles, general material, wooden counter and other goods are reported to have been gutted. The cause of the fire is being attributed to short circuit. No casualty has been reported in the fire.

The Lakadganj Fire Station of NMC received a call at 6.23 am informing that a fire has erupted in M/s Holaram Fattechand General Merchant, situated at near Bohra Masjid Road, in front of Milton Shop, Itwari (Lohaoli). Acting swiftly, the Fire Station despatched a fire tender and doused the blaze.

The shop, owned by Sudama Holaram Makheja, suffered loss of Rs 5 lakh as many goods including school stationery, notebooks, plastic bottles, general material, wooden counter were reduced to ashes.

The Fire Department and police have launched an investigation to ascertain exact cause the fire although short circuit is being attributed as the reason.
