Fire breaks out at Shriram Plastic Factory, loss put at Rs 50 lakh, no casualty

Nagpur: A major fire broke out at Shriram Plastic Factory near Mahalgoan, Kapsi on Bhandara Road in the early hours of Tuesday. Cause of fire could not be ascertained till now however property loss of over Rs 50 lakh has been estimated, Rajendra Uchake, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) informed Nagpur Today.

The fire broke out at around 7.30 am on Tuesday at the Mahalgoan based factory which manufactures plastic chips from waste plastic. Soon the fire engulfed entire factory premises causing loss of property to the tune of Rs 50 lakh to its owner Satram Parwani.

“Following information about the fire, two water browsers and four fire tenders from Sugat Nagar, Lakadganj, Sakkardara and Civil Lines fire stations were pressed into the action. Fire-fighters managed to save around Rs 15 lakh worth of property. However, cause of fire could not be ascertained till now,” said the CFO.

Interestingly, this is the second incident of fire on the same area. Earlier, a devastating fire broke out at cold storage of Suruchi Masale Factory a week ago.
