Nagpur: Finally Ambazari police have filed FIR against Hardeep Singh Arora and his family members for tormenting Hardeep’s wife Sharlyn (name changed) for dowry. Sharlyn was also reportedly subjected to sexual torture by her husband Hardeep who forced unnatural sex with her on many occasions. Sharlyn also complained of sexual harassment and molestation by her brother in law and father in law.
All the five members including Hardeep, his brother Sandeep Singh, father Tejpal Singh Arora, mother Ajinder Kaur and Sandeep’s wife Isha have been booked under sections 498 (A), 377, 354 (A)(1), 323, 34 of IPC. Ambazari police are investigating the matter. Sources also hinted at the possibility of arrest of Hardeep and other family members any time soon.
Initially the girl approached Gurudwara Committee fearing the family’s reputation. The Committee heads then tried to intervene and pacify the matter. But the relation only strained in due course as Hardeep often press Sharlyn to get her father to buy him a car. Hardeep often came home drunk and used to force her into unnatural sex.
The girl informed that taking advantage of the situation, her brother in law and father in law also made sexual advances towards her. Her brother in law had even molested her when Hardeep was out of town. She complained that her father in law would often insist her to sleep with him.
Earlier the girl approached Sadar police station where Hardeep reportedly tried to influence the cops. Later Sadar police directed her to file her complaint with Ambazari police station. Initially the cops were reluctant to file an FIR but when Nagpur Today intervened the case was subsequently registered under relevant sections.
It may be mentioned here that before his marriage Hardeep was also booked for molesting and threatening a girl.
Sources said that Hardeep has the habit of trapping innocent girls and force them into sexual intercourse. He would also threaten them against going to police, citing his family’s approach in police and politics.
For this reason, nobody in his community was willing to marry their daughter to him. Eventually Hardeep and his family managed to convince Sharlyn’s father.
Police said Hardeep and Sharlyn had married in Goa in July last year. Sharlyn who had returned to her family following relentless torture, later decided to approach the cops to register an offence.
