FDA seizes ghutkha worth Rs 16.10 lakh from Wadi

Nagpur News : The Food Safety Officials from Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), on Friday, seized ghutkha worth Rs 16.10 lakh during a raid that was conducted in Wadi area. Police have arrested Anand Jha and Ravindra Mirza while Sudhir Mishra and Dhruv Kumar are absconding.

According to reports, the accused had stocked ghutkha worth Rs 16.10 lakh in a godown with the name Bhilai Golden Trasnfer Godown, situated in Meghraj layout, Wadi. It is to be mentioned that the FDA had directed not to use and stock flavoured tobacco, ghutkha under its Act. However, the accused had stacked ghutkha illegally in the godown. When FDA officials got a tip off from their sources, a team led by FDA Officer Kiran Gedam swung into action and raided the godown in Wadi.

Wadi police, on the basis of the complaint lodged by Kiran Gedam, have registered an offence against the accused and put Anand and Ravindra behind bars while Sudhir Mishra and Dhruv Kumar are still at large.
