Truck crushes woman to death, car knocks boy dead; another boy dies in road mishap

Nagpur: The spate of fatal road accidents continues to claim precious lives in Nagpur City unabated. Three persons were killed and two others injured in separate mishaps. A woman was crushed to death and her husband injured by a rashly driven truck while a young boy was knocked down by a car. Another youth died when his motorcycle skidded off the road.

In the first accident, the husband-wife duo, Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Jalaluddin Shah (42) and Zahira Khatun (36), both residents of Padole Nagar Slums, were going to meet a relative on their Dio scooter (MH-31/DY 5790) around 4 pm on Thursday. When the couple reached in front of Baba Sarkar Traders near Vitabhatti Square in Yashodhara Nagar area, a truck (MH-40/Y 0221) towing another motor truck (CG-04/DN 8621) driven recklessly hit their Dio scooter. The forceful impact resulted in both Mohd Tajuddin and Zahira Khatun crashing on the road. Tragically, Zahira Khatun came under the wheels of one of the trucks and was crushed to death on the spot while her husband suffered injuries.

Yashodhara Nagar API Makdum booked the accused truck drivers under Sections 279, 337, 304(A) of IPC read with Section 187 of Motor Vehicles Act.

Another victim, the 23-year old Mayur Indrasingh Oswal, resident of Ashok Square, Buddha Nagar, along with a friend, was going to LIC Square from Liberty Talkies on his scooter (MH-49/R 6609) at 0045 hours of Friday. Near the square, a Maruti Swift Dezire car having Haryana passing hit Mayur’s scooter from behind. The collision was so powerful that Mayur was critically injured and died on the spot while his friend escaped with minor injuries. The senseless driver of the car sped away from the spot without caring for injured Mayur and his friend.

Sadar API Sawant, based on a complaint of Indrasingh Oswal, registered an offence against the car driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act.

In the third road mishap, the victim Nilesh Manikrao Wadve (21), resident of Narsala, was going to Antuji Nagar from Chandmari Temple on his Splendour Pro motorcycle (MH-40/AP2843) at about 0030 hours of Friday. Near the temple, the motorcycle of Nilesh suddenly slipped and skidded off the road. Nilesh suffered grave injuries and was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital. However, doctors there pronounced Nilesh ‘brought dead.’

Nandanvan PSI Raut registered an offence against the deceased Nilesh and probing the matter further.
