Fali is an eminent jurist of the country and a great advocate of the Supreme Court. S. Nariman passed away today in Delhi. He was 95 years old. Fali S. Nariman began practicing as an advocate in November 1950 in the Bombay High Court. Also in 1961 he was appointed senior counsel. He advocated for more than 70 years. He started practicing law initially in the Bombay High Court and later in the Supreme Court from 1972.
He was appointed Additional Solicitor General of India in 1975 because of his control over the Constitution of India and the judiciary. However, in June of the same year, the government led by Prime Minister Indir Gandhi imposed emergency. So he resigned his post against this emergency.
Fali S. Nariman was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2007. He had control of law. He was also a great writer. He had written the autobiography Before Memory along with the books The State of Nation, God Save the Honorable Supreme Court.
