Nagpur: A trickster, most probably posing as fake employee of Syndicate Bank, cheated a senior citizen to the tune of Rs 41,995 by procuring the 16-digit number of her ATM card and shopping online.
The complainant, Chandraprabha Tejnarayan Prasad (70) of Friends Colony received a call from mobile phone 7281907343 between 30.8.2016 and 31.8.2016 and the caller informed him that the date of his Syndicate Bank ATM card has expired and he will have to renew it. With this “informative” talk, the caller slyly procured the 16-digit number of Chandraprabha’s ATM card and later went on shopping spree online with the help of the card number. Thus Chandraprabha was put at a loss of Rs 41,995 fraudulently by the trickster.
Gittikhadan PSI P A Deshmukh has registered a case against the unidentified fraudster under Section 420 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 66(D) of IT Act and searching for him.
