Fake currency mastermind arrested in Nagpur

Nagpur: One of Central India’s biggest fake currency mastermind, Parvez Ahmed Patel alias Pappu, was arrested by Jaripatka police of Nagpur in connection with a case in which cops have already invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) in March.

In connection with the MCOCA case, registered against a gang of land grabbers at Sadar Police Station, the cops were conducting searches at the residence of one Imran Ali at Jaripatka when 12 fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500 were found and seized.

Another 400 pieces of paper, cut in the shape of the Indian currency note of Rs 500 were also recovered from his residence. Following interrogation, Imran had named Pappu Patel as the one with whom he dealt with regarding the fake currency. A separate offence was registered against Imran and Pappu.
