Nagpur: The trial run of Nagpur Metro Rail, popularly called Majhi Metro, was formally inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. The trial run was conducted from Khapri-based Depot. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Road Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari and SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya flagged off the formal trial run of Nagpur Metro Rail from Chinchbhuvan to New Airport Station.

Both Fadnavis and Gadkari expressed their happiness and satisfaction over the progress of the ambitious project. “The speed at which the work is going on Majhi Metro will emerge as the fastest completed project in the country,” an elated Fadnavis said. On the other hand, Gadkari gave 110 marks in appreciation of the speedy work. “With world standard technology being used in the project, citizens of Nagpur would get an excellent transport facility in the form of Majhi Metro,” Gadkari stated.

The trial run on the 5.4 km elevated section will go on for three months. Citizens could enjoy the first joy ride in the fully commissioned Nagpur Metro in December.
