Fadnavis assures Shivaji Nagar residents to deal with nuisance of pubs, lounges

Nagpur: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised to create a conducive environment for the citizens of Shivaji Nagar in Nagpur who are facing problems due to rise in night culture that has seen mushrooming of liquor joints in the erstwhile serene residential area.

The residents are staring at a major issue of shortage of parking space in the area as numerous pubs and lounges have come up on Ram Nagar Cement Road and the customers end-up blocking access to residential places. Of late reports of quarrel and clashes have been reported from the Shivaji Nagar area. The aggrieved residents have decided to raise voice against the unruly crowd of youth who are daily becoming a nuisance and disturbing peace in the area after consuming liquor.

In the light of the Pune incident wherein two youth were crushed to death by a rashly driven four-wheeler allegedly by a drunken minor, the residents have decided to apprise the Fadnavis about their problems. A delegation of 20 members from Shivaji Nagar area called on Fadnavis. The meeting was arranged by Alok Goenka and Shivani Dani, Vice-President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.

Fadnavis patiently listened to issues raised by the Shivaji Nagar residents who said the pubs and bars in their areas are now a major cause of disturbance of the peaceful atmosphere that was its hallmark. Goenka told the Dy CM that his property was trespassed and vandalised by three customers of the pubs on Cement Road following objections to blocking access to the houses. The customers of these pubs are also responsible for rash driving, parking in front of entrance gates of residents and instances of vandalism.

The delegation of citizens also included Adv Abhishek Naik, CA Akhil Trivedi, Rohit Matade, Kunal Duddalwar, Nikhil Salpekar, Nahush Badge, Harsh Shah, Yash Hastak, Prashant Dahikar, Kaustubh Dive, Asheesh Wadhwa, Adv Ankit Nigam, Mahesh Vaidya, Robin Agrawal, Himanshu Sakariya, Saurabh Tamne, Gagandeep Sethi, CA Raghav Gokhale and others.

The Dy CM said instructions will be issued to administration to take strict action against violators. Similarly, no nuisance will be tolerated and city police will crackdown on any acts of vandalism, he assured.
