Externed goon nabbed after hot chase in Wadi, Nagpur

Nagpur: A police patrolling team from Wadi Police Station on Tuesday apprehended a history-sheeter who had been officially externed (banished) from Nagpur city and rural areas for two years. The accused, identified as Suraj alias Musa Moreshwar Wankhede (39), a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Wadi, was arrested around 11:45 am on December 2, 2025, near the Zilla Parishad Upper Primary School in the Control Wadi area.

According to police, the team was on routine patrolling when they received a tip-off about the suspicious movement of a person in the locality. When the police reached the spot, the man started running upon noticing them. He was chased and taken into custody.

On interrogating and verifying his records, police discovered that Wankhede had been externed from Nagpur city and district limits for two years, as per Order No. 12/2024 issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) on November 28, 2024. Despite the ban, he was found within the restricted area with the intent to commit an offence, violating the externment order.

Wadi Police have registered a case against him under Sections 142 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and he has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Shivajirao Rathod, Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region), Nagpur City; DCP Singa Reddy Rishikesh Reddy (Zone 1); and ACP Satishkumar Gurav (MIDC Division). The team included PI Rajesh Tatakre, API Saiprasad Kendre, and police personnel Someshwar Wardhe and Ajay Patil.
