
Nagpur: The Pardi Police arrested a 33-year-old externed criminal on Monday night for allegedly violating an externment order and unlawfully entering the city limits.
According to police sources, at around 9 pm on February 16, 2026, a patrol team from Pardi Police Station was conducting routine patrolling within its jurisdiction when they received credible information that an externed individual had returned to his residence in the Bhandewadi–Kostipura area of Gondpura.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team reached the specified location. Upon spotting the police, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee. However, he was chased down and taken into custody.
The accused has been identified as Pawan Prabhakar Khapekar (33), a resident of Kostipura, Bhandewadi, Pardi, Nagpur.
During verification of his criminal record, police found that Khapekar had been externed from Nagpur city and rural limits for a period of three months under Externment Order No. 50/2025, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 05. The order had been served on him on January 2, 2026.
Despite the ban, the accused allegedly re-entered the prohibited area without obtaining prior permission from authorities. Police suspect he may have returned with the intention of committing a crime.
Based on a complaint lodged by Police Constable Nitin Bobde, an offence has been registered against the accused under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act at Pardi Police Station. He has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
