
Nagpur: Khaparkheda Police arrested a 33-year-old externed criminal after he was found roaming suspiciously in the jurisdiction late on Thursday night, reportedly with the intention of committing a crime.
Between 11.50 pm on December 11 and 1.49 am on December 12, a patrolling team received information that an externed individual, identified as Rahul alias ATM Premalal Raut, was creating a nuisance at Annamod Square in Khaparkheda. When the police reached the spot, the accused attempted to flee but was chased and caught.
Police verification revealed that Rahul alias ATM, a resident of Ward No. 2, Khaparkheda, had been externed from Nagpur city and rural limits for two years under an order issued by the Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural, on November 14, 2024.
Authorities said the accused violated the externment order by entering the jurisdiction without permission and was allegedly preparing to commit a cognizable offence. Based on these violations, Khaparkheda Police registered an offence under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act and placed him under arrest. Further investigation is underway.
The action was taken under the supervision of Additional CP (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade, DCP Zone 6 Dr. Sandeep Pakhale, ACP (Kamptee Division) Ankush Khedkar, and led by PI Harish Rumkar, along with constables Mukesh Waghade, Tekam, Pritam, Amit, and Raju.
