It is difficult to trap even a single police staffer when he demands and extracts bribe amount from public, but ACB showing exemplary courage and swift action trapped three police staffers red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 30,000/
As per the report, ACB received a complaint on August 14 that the complainant, and his relatives had a quarrel at Panjara, which led to registering of a case of bodily hurt at Koradi police station.
The police personnel at Koradi police station 1) Santosh Kharat, police sub-inspector 2) Pramod Shalikram Kshirsagar, nayak police constable 3) Manoj Manikrao Nimje, nayak police constable, all posted at Koradi police station, demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000/ for releasing the complainant from police action. As the complainant was in no mood to pay such huge amount of bribe, registered complaint with ACB.
Badal restaurant, Koradi Road, Nagpur was chosen as a spot where trap was laid. At the appointed time Santosh Kharat came there and demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 30,000/ through his juniors, Pramod Kshirsagar and Manoj Nimaje. All the accused have been arrested red handed and an offence under Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered. Further action is in progress.
The action was taken under guidance of DCP/superintendent, ACB, Nagpur, Vasant Shirbhate, deputy superintendent of police by police inspector, Vinod Dighore and Ashok Sakharkar. Similarly police constables Vilas Khanke, Santosh Pundkar, Nilesh Barve, Ajay Yadav and Dinesh Adhapure also took part in this successful mission.
Police inspector, Vinod Dighore, Ashok Sakharkar have shown exemplary courage and carried out a very swift action which could lead to arrest of three police personnel in a single trap.
ACB, Nagpur has made an appeal to people at large that if they find any public servant demanding illegal gratification, they should inform the bureau on toll free helpline number 1064 and also 09730396515 without any favour or fear.
