Excise Deptt seizes 1150 liters of country liquor in Nandanvan

Nagpur: The sleuths of State Excise Department on Saturday arrested a man allegedly for smuggling 1150 liters of country made liquor under jurisdiction of Nandanvan police. Besides liquor stored in rubber tubes, Excise officials have confiscated the four wheeler and other materials collectively worth Rs 4,49,650 lakh.

According to sources, the sleuths of Excise Department had received secret tip about a car (MH/31/CP/2314) carrying 1150 liters of illegal liquor through Nandanvan area. Acting swiftly on the information the squad of Excise Department comprising Inspector Sunil Sahastrabuddhe, Assistant Inspectors Mukund Chimatvar, Ravindra Sonone and Jawans Sanjay Rathod, Sameer Sayyad, Shirish Deshmukh, Ravindra Ingole and driver Devesh Kothe laid a trap near Seven Star Hotel. Following which the officers intercepted the suspicious vehicle. Excise officials then rounded up accused driver identified as Raja Ram Verma (46), a resident of Shivmandir Lodhipur Mandir.

The drive was supervised under the guidance of Divisional Joint Commissioner Mohan Vard and Superintendent Pramod Sonone.
