Nagpur: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Nagpur Police has started investigation against controversial builder-cum-politician Pramod Manmode after four different and fresh complaints were filed against him.
Sources in police said that four persons — Ravindra Puttewar, Kunal Yelne, Praful Karpe and Bhavesh Kuchanwar — had filed police complaints against Manmode. DCP (EOW) Archit Chandak said an inquiry has been initiated. On Tuesday, their statements were recorded, he said.
Puttewar has urged the police to book Manmode under Section 2/3/4 of MPID Act to protect investors in Nirmal Ujjwal Cooperative Society. Manmode accepted deposits illegally every year and the amount so far is approximately Rs 2,000 crore, he claimed.
All observations and findings of Puttewar’s complaints have already been covered in the audit conducted by State Cooperative Society Deputy Director (Cooperative Registrar) Rajendra Kausadikar and Divisional Joint Registrar (cooperative society audit) RD Birle, which revealed many irregularities in Nirmal Ujjwal Cooperative Society.
Yelne had filed a complaint of illegal deposits of Rs 900 crore and misappropriation of funds in Nirmal Society.
It was also alleged that Manmode had sold a portion of land from 21 acre which belongs to all residents of Nirmal Nagari Society as per the Deed of Declaration.
Recently, coming down heavily on Nagpur Police for not producing Pramod Manmode in the alleged Rs 3.5 crore Nirmal Urban Cooperative Bank fraud case, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) had directed cops to produce the multi-crore fraud accused in the court and issued Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Manmode.
It may be recalled that Manmode and Branch Manager Sachin Bomble, the masterminds, in the alleged Rs 3.5 crore Nirmal Urban Cooperative Bank fraud case were chargesheeted by Nandanvan police last year. The Nagpur police confirmed Manmode’s involvement in duping Mukesh Barbate and Kunal Yelne in its 43-page chargesheet submitted before the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
However, the cops repeatedly failed to produce Manmode in the court following which the JMFC court issued a Non-Bailable Warrant against the accused.
