Nagpur: A British Airways Boeing 787 passenger aircraft made an emergency landing in Nagpur on Tuesday. The flight was en route from London to Hyderabad but was unable to land at Hyderabad Airport due to adverse weather conditions. As a precautionary measure, Nagpur was chosen as the alternate landing destination.
The aircraft landed safely at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. After landing, a technical issue was detected in the aircraft. The pilot informed the Air Traffic Services (ATS) department that the GPS system was not functioning properly.
There were a total of 169 passengers on board. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew members. As a precaution, all passengers were safely deboarded from the aircraft.
Meanwhile, the authorities promptly arranged accommodation and meals for the passengers at hotels in Nagpur. A decision regarding the onward journey will be taken after the completion of the technical inspection, according to airport officials.
The incident led to increased activity at the airport for some time; however, the situation remained under control due to swift administrative action.
