Nagpur: In a hit-and-run incident, a rashly driven motorcycle knocked an elderly woman dead on Manewada Ring Road here on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kamal sayyaji Korke (72), resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Manewada Ring Road. Around 8.30 pm on Monday, Kamal was returning home walking. As she was crossing Manewada Ring Road, the speeding motorcycle hit her with forceful impact. The unidentified motorcyclist fled the spot after the accident.
Kamal received multiple injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital by nearby people. However, Kamal succumbed to her injuries at 2.30 am on Tuesday during treatment.
Hudkeshwar PSI J A Sheikh has booked the absconding motorcyclist under Sections 304(A), 279, 338 of IPC read with Sections 177, 134 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
