Nagpur: Tension ran high in the CPWD Colony, Seminary Hills, in the Gittikhadan Police Station area of Nagpur on Wednesday afternoon after an elderly couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased, Deepak Gajbhiye (57), was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while his wife Vidya (53) was lying dead on the bed in their residence at Quarter No. 360, Building No. 12, Type II, CPWD Colony. Deepak Gajbhiye was a Grade-D employee at the Headquarters Maintenance Command (HQMC) of the Indian Air Force and also owned a house near Jai Bhim Chowk, Kamptee. His wife, Vidya, had been suffering from paralysis and was bedridden for the past two to three years.
Initial investigations suggest that Deepak Gajbhiye might have taken the extreme step of either strangulating or poisoning his wife before taking his own life. The incident is believed to have occurred around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, while the couple’s son, Prasheek (27), and daughter, Prerna (24), were away at the Kamptee Post Office for some work. Upon their return, they were shocked to find their parents dead.
Soon after receiving the information about the incident, staff from Gittikhadan Police Station reached the spot. After conducting the spot and inquest panchnama, the bodies were sent to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the deaths. Police said that the autopsy report would reveal the exact cause behind Vidya’s death.
